How do I book a dj?
Some of our best students have taken their DJ practice beyond our Level 1 and Level 2 classes, have acquired their own equipment, built their own music libraries, and set out to play their own events.
From birthday parties to pep rallies to school dances, field days, and fun nights, these OontzKids are gaining great experiences in not only their craft, but in interpersonal skills, responsibility, leadership, entrepreneurship, and more.
As part of our program at OontzKids, we love to match these DJs with opportunities to perform, grow, and gain real-world experience.
There are many types of events where Kid/Teen DJs are the perfect fit:
Kid/Teen birthday parties where guests feel more comfortable with a DJ their own age
Family parties/reunions with lots of kids present
School functions such as field days, fun nights, or even dances
There are also many types of events where booking a Kid DJ would not be appropriate:
Adult-only parties (especially with alcohol present)
Weddings or Corporate Events where a great deal of planning and professional execution is involved
Events in which the DJ is expected to provide large-scale sound systems, lighting, or other production.
Events in which the DJ is expected to provide professional MC or announcer services, attend extensive planning meetings, or be on premises for more than a few hours.
Here are a few things to know before inquiring about booking an OontzKids graduate for one of your events:
All OontzKids DJs will require a signed contract that outlines terms of the performance including performance time, location, production needs, expectations, payment, special situations, and cancellation.
All OontzKids DJs (or their parents) will charge a negotiated performance fee and a 50% non-refundable deposit in order to book. The students have not only worked hard to develop their skills, but have spent a great deal of their allowance/chore money on equipment and legally acquired music. They’ve moved their schedules around (as have their parents) and taken the time to assure you have a great event (as have their parents). OontzKids are busy kids, and requests for free performances are usually declined.
If you have an event where you feel an OontzKids DJ would be a great fit, please let us know!
